Compare and contrast

Chemical elements, or simply called elements, are chemicals that can not be subdivided into smaller substances, or can not be converted into other chemicals using ordinary chemical methods. The element is a substance containing only one atomic type.

The smallest particles of the element are atoms. It can be said that the element is the atom itself. An atom consists of an atomic nucleus (nucleus) and is surrounded by electrons. The atomic nucleus consists of a number of protons and neutrons. Until now it is known there are approximately 117 elements in the world.

Compare and contrast Sodium between Magnesium

1. Sodium (Na)
Sodium is a chemical element in the periodic table having Na symbols and atomic number 11. Sodium is a soft, silvery, and waxy reactive metal, which belongs to alkali metals which are widely present in natural compounds (especially halite). He is very reactive, the flame is yellow, oxidizes in air, and reacts strongly with water, so it must be stored in oil. Because it is so reactive, sodium is almost never found in pure form.
Like other alkali metals, sodium is a soft, light, silvery reactive element, which never takes the form of a pure element in nature. Sodium floats in water, decomposing it into hydrogen gas and hydroxide ions. If it is crushed into a powder, sodium will explode in water spontaneously. However, it usually does not explode in air under temperature 388 K. Sodium also when in a state bound to OH-ion will form a strong base that is NaOH.
2. Magnesium (Mg)

Magnesium is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Mg and atomic number 12 and the atomic weight of 24.31. Magnesium lies classified IIA and has a degree of oxidation 2. Magneisum also has a white flame color. Magnesium is the eighth largest element that makes up 2% of the earth's crust, and is the third most dissolved element in seawater. The alkaline earth metal is mainly used as an alloy to make the aluminum-magnesium alloy often called "magnalium" or "magnelium".

  4. which one faster to reach between magnesium and sodium?

    BalasHapus

    1. The more reactive is sodium because the ionisation energy is smaller. The smaller the ionisation energy of an element the element will be easier to react.
